The Department of Mathematics and Computation (DEMAC) is one of the four departments of the Faculty of Technology (FAT) of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). At the time of its criation in October 2002, the staff was composed by two permanent professors. Today, after about thre years, the staff is composed by five permanent professors and seven temporary professors. Our activities are divided in fifthteen disciplines teaching and in developing research projects in different areas: Cosmology, Gravitation, Dynamical Systems, Operational Research, Computational Physics, Graph Theory, Linear Programation and Mathematical Physics, for example. undergraduated students are linked to the DEMAC,  as monitors, whose objective is  to bring support to first years students,  on Scientific Initiation projects and others in Extension projects.
